Access to the OneHome system from a computer inside the house, or from an Internet-enabled computer outside the house, relies on the OneHome Computer Viewer.

The OneHome Computer Viewer is a Java based application that is downloaded from your OneHome System Controller to the accessing computer, and runs on that computer with the help of the browser and the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) installed on the accessing computer.

In the majority of cases the Computer Viewer connects successfully to the OneHome system with no changes. In those cases where it has trouble either loading or connecting to your system, there are two possible issues to check: the JVM running on the accessing computer, and the firewall settings blocking the accessing computer.

The table below lists our suggested JVM version for various operating systems. In each table there are links to download free updates. Below the table are some frequently asked questions.

In the case of firewalls, most of the problems we have seen are caused by corporate firewalls or proxy servers. Due to the range and complexity of firewall and proxy server settings, call us or send an email to support@homelogic and we will try some common avenues to enable a connection to your home.

Macintosh OSX
Systems running the Sun JVM 1.3.1 or higher
Linux (all versions)

Common Questions
Under Windows, how do I determine which JVM is being used?
• Click Start, Run, then type in "cmd" (NT, 2000, XP) or "command" (95, 98, Me).
• Type "jview" and hit Enter. You should see a window that looks like this. The Microsoft JVM version number is shown at the right on the top line.
